Yea sounds like we had the same surgery. The time really does fly. Once you start eating normally and the swelling goes down (approximately 2 weeks), you start getting used to everything.
I'm 5 weeks post-op. I started going to the gym only 10 days after surgery (light weight lifting, no cardio).
I'll say what everyone told me but I didn't want to hear: "just hang in there, it takes time". You'll be giving the same advice in a few weeks.

candycin,
first off congrats on making it to the other side! I am now 25days post op and I know EXACTLY how you feel right now. Give yourself a few days for the swelling to go down, and keep your face moisturized (i just used my regular face lotion) to help with the tightness. For the swallowing the best thing is practice. I forced myself to do it. I used a small plastic cup from the hospital. I drank 2-3 liters a day, it was hard and slow going but it payed off. In a couple days (with this practice) swallowing won't be so difficult. I always had a towel over my chest and a napkin handy (still do, just in case). Also, the drinking will help the saliva! Just take small little sips! If you ever need any encouragement please post again because I'm only a few weeks ahead of you!

candycin I'm sorry you are feeling so terrible! For your lips try Blistex! Vaseline will dry out your lips. For me, my "I don't look that bad day" was day 10... if you want to check my blog it shows my drastic change from day 9 to 10.

Everyone is different, make sure to keep your head elevated to elevate some swelling!

Can you feel any plate or screws in your jaw after surgery? Im not sure if all cases use them so Im not sure if this is a stupid question!

hmm
well just remember that Fiona is a princess! haha
has anyone else who has fully recovered from surgery noticed their bolts/screws/plates? I'm wondering if they will be there but I wont honestly notice them... or if I will be able to sort of feel them underneath the skin? ORR if they will be irritating and noticable?

are you sleeping propped up? I still sleep at at least a 45deg. angle. It did take time to get used to. For pain I was given Tramadol (not strong enough for me), then something else I don't remember because I took it for maybe a day and it didn't work, and the Oxycodone (finally got some relief). I now just take Tylenol. I am still in pain, but it is muscular so I use my muscle relaxer to try and get some relief...this is an ongoing problem.
