I had upper jaw surgery two years back. Recently I went back to see him to discuss the possibility of getting my plates out. I also mentioned to him that I was considering getting my nose narrowed. He took a look and said, "yup, that could be done as well".
We then discussed my nose surgery in depth but when I went home, I was wondering whether I should see a plastic surgeon instead for my nose. My worry is that my jaw surgeon might not be as experienced at handing soft tissue type surgery? Yet, at the same time, the idea of getting the plates out and having nose reduced at one operation is very appealing.
So, have many of you had your nose reduced (getting a wedge removed) by your jaw surgeon?

I thought about getting my eyes lifted a bit while having my jaw surgery and my ortho strongly suggested otherwise. Definately go to a plastic surgeon who specializes in this even though the thought of "one stop shopping" is appealing!
I think it depends on what kind of surgery. if you're just getting this stich that narrows the lower part of the nose, which is also often used during jaw surgery, I guess your jaw surgeon is ok.
if it is anything more than that, i.e. a "real" nose job I think I go to another doctor.
I also wanted to check out getting rhinoplasty, and my surgeon offered to refer me to a colleague of his. I would feel much safer getting it done with a specialist. Apparently today over half of all nose surgeries are CORRECTIONS of prior ones that didn't turn out well, and corrections are way more expensive.
