Tongue Drives Me Nuts

Ever since I had a BSSO my tongue feels crowded in my mouth. I know my airway is slightly smaller, which isn't really a big issue for breathing, but the real problem is that my tongue rubs against the roof of my mouth.
Kind of like it makes contact with my uvula too much. I'm 9 months post surgery, and I'm wondering if this will ever go away. If I have a dry mouth and I end up focusing on it it drives me insane.

I did not have a BSSO, and I have never had an underbite, but I will tell you that my tongue does indeed touch the roof of my mouth when my bite is closed. I can force it down into my lower jaw, but if I just relax with my jaws closed and let my mouth go natural, my tongue is up there, touching my palate, ect.... Maybe it's normal? I can see how if this is different from what you felt before that it would feel strange now.

Your tongue is supposed to touch the roof of your mouth at rest. If it doesn't, you run the risk of having a tongue thrust. I had to go to speech therapy to learn how to train myself to keep my tongue at the roof of my mouth.

That's reassuring. I guess it just has to get used to having a centimeter less space to move around in. The main thing is that it touches the uvula more than before, so it feels like I had been eating hard candies or something that I'd rub against the roof of my mouth.

It's also been weird for me adapting to eating and being in a resting position with my new, underbite-free mouth. I find myself pushing my tongue against or between my teeth the way I used to HAVE TO. SO NOW I have to bend my tongue differently for my resting position, and sometimes I sleep with my mouth open (actually, usually..). It takes some getting used to, but it's not as bad as it was the first month
