Numbness in your lips
People said that you could be numbed for good, if you are in your lips what does that mean? Whenever you drink are you going to drip, do you not have movement of your lips?
I have the rubber band sensation also, but I only have a small area on the left side of my lip that is still numb. I have no TMJ issues.trish222 wrote:I'm almost one year post op and still undergoing physical therapy. I feel like I have a rubber band inside my bottom lip. I also feel that drooling sensation too-I have to feel my face to see if it is wet. I'm sure it gets better-still better than ear and jaw pain and clicking.
I did find out a good friend of mine is having upper jaw advancement surgery sometime this year. He did not know I had lower jaw surgery.

I had Lefort I and BSSO in January of 2009 and my entire bottom lip and chin are still numb. I've had the pins and needles sensation in them for about 10 months now, which at first the doctor said was a sign of returning feeling, but it has not progressed. I constantly feel like my lip and chin are swollen and stretched. I can eat and drink fine, but am constantly wiping my chin because I can't feel if there's anything on it or not. The doctor isn't sure why such a large portion of my face has remained numb, but the rest of the results are so amazing, it's a small price to pay. Everything is functioning normally, so I won't complain.....too much
Good luck with everything!

I had combo SARPE and maxillary advancement. They cut the nerves behind my upper lip and above my teeth so my teeth and upper gums are numb. I didn't get any numbess at all in my lips and I hardly notice that my teeth and gums are numb (very different feeling from when the dentist does it). Goes to show that every case is different.
