any websites selling 'jaw bras'?

Hello everyone,

I am a little disappointed that I can't seem to find any website currently selling the cool jaw wraps. It seems (from my months of reading orthoblogs and this board) that people really seem to love this product and that it provides hands-free help with keeping the swelling down. Now that I'm finally preparing for surgery, the Zip n Squeeze website is not accepting orders and I can't find the cool jaw wrap for sale anywhere. I'm not so worried about the zip n squeeze products, but I was really hoping to have the jaw wrap on hand.

I wonder if anybody out there has had any luck finding a store/website that sells these? Also, what are the chances that the hospital provides these? Thanks for any info in advance!

I was in the same boat as you--trying to find one before surgery so I'd have it on hand after surgery. I did ask my surgeon if one would be provided, and he said yes. Sure enough, when I woke up from surgery at the hospital, I was already iced up. And they let me take it home. So, before searching too much, you may want to give your surgeon a call and check to see if one will be provided for you.

Also remember, you'll only put ice on the first 48 hours (I literally kept it on ALL the time, which helped a lot with the swelling), and then after that, you'll want to switch to warm, moist heat (I used my reusable ice/heat pack wrapped in a moistened towel). Once I switched to heat, I didn't even use the jaw bra anymore.

Hope this helps!

Thanks! That's a good idea. I'll call my OS tomorrow and hopefully find out. One less thing to stress about. :D

Yeah, My OS recommended only using cold for up to 4 days. After that use heat. The swelling has stopped, since the bruising is now turning yellow/green going down my neck and I haven't noticed any increase, actually quite the opposite.

The cold packs were amazing. I would wrap those bad boys around my face until they got too warm, took em off for a while, then put em back on. A lot of the time I'd fall asleep with them on, not realizing it till I woke up. So much for 20 minutes. But it didnt matter, it relieved a lot of the discomfort and swelling. Im going to be using heat now help relax the muscles. I'll let you know how that works.

As for the "jaw bras" theyre a little hard to come by. The hospital gave me these stocking looking things which i rotated frozen peas through and tied it to my head. I should have gotten the real thing, but it worked just fine. I found a site that I think you might be looking for. Hope this helps!!

It was given to me at the hospital after my surgery. Really practical. I had to put ice for 48hours then hot moist towel.
