Dating - Have your odds improved after surgery?

I'm curious how surgery has affected YOUR life in respect to the opposite sex (or same, if homosexual).
I read the following article which also introduces another idea which I'd like some confirmation on too (only really applies if you have had upper jaw surgery though):
http://www.head-face-med.com/content/5/1/5
Note: If you say looks aren't important or that they don't matter... I will jump the gun here and say you are either a moron or living in a very different reality to my own. If I see a pretty flower I'd want to go pick it. If I see a pile of dog poo I'll run away. That sort of logic should be easy for anyone to understand lol... and yeah I don't go around running from dog poo and picking up flowers, its just an example. PLEASE don't tell me dog poo is pretty to some people... because even if it is, that's the minority that most people never get to meet in their lifetime.

Comparing pre-surgery patients to dog poo ?, lol, I think you just got yourself into trouble with the ladies here
("politically incorrect" is being written with rage on Audra's keyboard as we speak).
Regarding the article, here is a quote:
Our hypothesis presumes there is an inhibitory role of the VNO in terms of identification of inappropriate individuals for mating. This inappropriate individual excretes pheromones which are recognized as inappropriate by the VNO and such information is transduced into limbic brain structures and evokes an involuntary response in terms of not "liking that person" or "feeling something strange."
With all due respect, I prefer to identify inappropriate individuals for mating,
using my brain, and not using some primitive sense of pheromone smell (if it even exist in humans).
Moreover, I think that in most male humans, this inhibitory sense does not exist anyway (show me a single straight man [not in a relationship] who'll refuse mating with a good looking woman).

Kirish, please stop referencing my name.

Well, I would't compare myself to dog poo, even though I'm pre-surgery. Lots of people look more like dog poo than I do
The article is interesting though; even though I would want to mate with more people, I still don't think I would. My brain and reasoning would save my from my primitive urges I hope

Obviously, I was giving an exaggerated example.. but have your fun with it I suppose
.. Audra obviously understands haha (and yes I say this because you don't want to be referenced, by Kirish
)
Nobody answered the question in the title which is... annoying. lol - Dating - Have your odds improved after surgery? I suppose you guys haven't had surgery yet, though.

By the way... I think that "VNO" mentioned in the article is giving all the women I've come across in my life that involuntary response of not "liking that person" or "feeling something strange." - I do say, it is weird that even girls who liked me from a distance decide to back off... it wasn't my looks that was a problem but maybe some kind of "feeling" about my genetics with the odd midface problem I have. lol... yes I'm grasping at straws here but I want answers!! XD

Well, I'm not allowed to date because I"m married
But I have had a few people tell me that my face has changed and that I look great. Several have said I look 10 years younger.
In all honesty thought, even with the underbite I never had any trouble with dating (before I got married obviously).
Sorry I can't be of more help.

Haha... yes I think I'm looking for an "unmarried" response here. (by the way, you can still "date" your husband)
For me it's partially a confidence thing. It's really weird though... I've had really attractive girls single me out and flirt with me but then they back off gradually.
I know it sounds like its just my "bad personality" but i'm a typical fun loving guy. Maybe they pick up on my "inexperience" and it turns them off... or maybe it does have something to do with my "lack of smile".
I'll be glad to post back here about this stuff a year or so from now after my surgery.

LOL. I actually do still "date" my husband. We still go out on dates.
Your post brings up a lot of probably valid points. You may project a subconscious lack of confidence about your smile that they pick up on. Who knows what the reasons really are.
I hope that this surgery gives your that boost of confidence that may make a difference. I've seen some pretty dramatic changes in both pictures and youtube videos. I look forward to seeing happy outcome for you.

For someone who doesn't feel like reading that whole article, what is that article saying in short?

It's just saying that if you have maxillary surgery (upper jaw) than you may damage a kind of "organ" that is what tells humans who is a bad sexual partner. Eg. you'll end up wanting to have sex with everyone, or more people than you would if the organ wasn't damaged because it tells you which people not to be attracted to by giving you a bad "feeling" about them - like your mind saying "don't go there".
In otherwords: upper jaw surgery may = increased promiscuity

This is actually my first post of this forum but I found this subject interesting.
I actually have no problem dating at all but yet im getting upper and lower jaw surgery with a hip bone graft to fix an overbite and short face and you would think needing all that I must have a lot of problems with the opposite sex!
So I dont really think the before and after have much difference in attracting someone except that after surgery I would expect that myself and anyone else would just feel so much more confident after living with something that would otherwise make them self concious, and thats maybe what would make anyone more attractive to other people after surgery.
