Hey all..I posted some pictures to my jaw surgery blog at http://jawsurgery4joe.blogspot.com/ and wanted to get some opinions. My orthodontist said I probably need to get upper jaw advancement to fix my jaw alignment issues. Looking at my pictures do I need upper jaw advancement or upper advancement plus moving the lower jaw back?
Can you look at the pics and give your suggestions/opinions about what is wrong with my jaws? It's very awkward for me to try to smile so it's difficult posting this but I wanted to get reassured that jaw surgery will correct my problems and allow me to smile normally and confidently for once.
I'm due for braces August 5th so I'm sure I'll get actual xrays taken to get some more information and I'm assuming the oral surgeon makes the final calls anyway...but it's always nice to get info from actual patients that may have been thru this before.

regarding your "big fugly nose" as you call it in your blog
, I wouldn't make plans for that yet. to me it looks like this is entirely related to your jaw. it's especially visible when you compare the 2 profile pics, laughing and non-laughing.upper jaw advancement can change the nose very much.
