Elastics and Cross Bite Fixing

I was wondering if anyone who used elastics had answer to this question.

I'm wearing elastics 24/7 at the moment to fix my cross bite, after my sarpe surgery it seems like one side expanded more than the other, and the latter is still affecting my bite as i'm not biting properly yet. My ortho has me wearing elastics on both side however and its kind of in a upside down right angle triangle. starts on the back bracket in the top to the closer bracket in the top then to the lower bracket in the bottom near my middle teeth kinda. (horrible way of describing it I know..)

It's been almost a month, but I was wondering how long do elastics take normally to correct cross bites?

It depends how severe the crossbite is. Sometimes crossbites won't be 100% fixed with elastics. I have been in elastics since day 1, for 29 months. One configuration was the upside triangle in both sides. From your description it sounds like you have posterior crossbite. Then, my ortho changed to a normal triangle configuration to one side and since last month I am off the crossbite elastics but still full time on class II on both sides and anterior box elastic.

BTW, my crossbite is not 100% corrected. I don't think my teeth can "expand" or tip more than what they already have.

Your bite is going to feel off at times but just give it some time. The time depends on the case.

well before my sarpe it didn't look too bad, now it seems like the gaps on both side when my teeth connect (or try to connect) are bigger now. However I guess I'm just antsy to try to see results quickly even though I know it will take alot of time. I just hope my ortho isn't waiting for my bite to fix more before deciding to take out my rpe and put my top braces on, i want to close my gap between my two front teeth asap! Plus I really just want to have my mouth back as I feel the RPE is so annoying
