when do you stop seeing your orthodontist before having surgery

I guess this differs, but I have the last appointment 2 weeks before surgery.
then he puts in I think a steel arch that makes sure the teeth don`t move anymore, so the surgeon can do the planning.

I saw my ortho a few days before my jaw surgery because he installed some surgical hooks on my braces.

I didn't need to see him until 2 weeks after my wires were removed. That's like 7 weeks after my jaw surgery.
