How long before you can exercise after surgery?

I'm not an athlete or anything, but lately I've been very pleased with my exercise-routine, working out about 4 times a week. It makes me look better, makes me happier, and I believe it makes me more capable to handle the surgery I'll be having sometime after easter. Just curious, how long du you have to wait until after the surgery to start working out? I lift weights and run, and I would like to pick it up as soon as possible after surgery. I'm having Lefort 1 surgery btw.
Thanks

My son was cleared after 4 weeks, but his doc said it could have been anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks, depending on his healing.

I went and walked on the treadmill during my second week post-op. My OS said you should not lay around; walking is good. I was back to a normal routine by the 4 week mark.

4 weeks before I was back doing martial arts - No fighting though
I waited till I had been debanded.
I waited 1,5 week before I started cycling, just on a indoor bike though.
It really helps you feel better

Thanks for the replies! I'm pretty relieved, this was much faster than expected, I thought it might be about months.

my doc said "normal" routine stuff within 2 weeks, no contact sports for 8-10weeks. Not sure I would do any impact running at 2 weeks though!
I am hoping to do some walking next week, my doc was adamant today in the office (day 2 post op)--he said don't sit around, the more you move the better you feel.
