I wanted to start a thread for those of us who are getting oral surgery in April!! I'm getting double jaw surgery at the end of April to correct an underbite. I'm 22 and I've been looking forward to the surgery for a couple of years now. I've had braces on for a year and a half now and I had SARPE surgery last year to expand my top jaw. Let's commiserate as we count down to one of the biggest days of our lives!!!

I am having SARPE on April 7th and am incredibly excited. It feels as if I have been waiting forever as this journey to deciding on what I wanted to do started almost a year ago now. I am very relieved that I am set up and the decisions have been made.

I'm scheduled for a BSSO + 3-piece LeFort I on April 22nd to correct an underbite. Been braced since April 15th of last year, so almost exactly 1 year in braces before surgery.

I expect to progressively freak out as my surgery date approaches.

I have been waiting to post in the "surgery buddies" thread forever!!!

I am having mine April 6th. I am set to go for my molds with my oral surgeon in 2 weeks to find out exactly what procedure I will be having. Not knowing if it is upper or lower or both is kind of crazy!

My date is April 6th as well! Saw the surgeon yesterday...made me nervous about being wired closed for 2 weeks (I thought it would be just one). Was having 2nd thoughts. What have I got myself into? I guess that's why they asked me to pay before I saw the surgeon, too late to back out now!

Congrats! My surgery is not until May 11th but I will be watching all of your progress like a stalker...I mean hawk!

Anyone taking steps for some pre-surgery prep? I unfortunately have a cold, so am trying to speed up that recovery by drinking Emergen-C a few times a day. I also thought keeping well hydrated and moisturizing my cheeks, lips and nasal passages would help. Been doing alot of deep breathing through my nose to help keep things clear and moisturized (esp. in a hot shower!).

Have no idea if any of this will help, but thought, what the heck.

I did have a nurse practitioner tell me taking the extra vitamin C would help with recovery.

Open bite
Having upper & lower jaw surgery (not sure of the medical terms but do know Lefort or something)
Will be wired for 2 weeks
Braces on Jan 2010

damn dude im in the same situation except my surgery is on the 28th. how long have you had your braces on?
