Due to a flat arthritic left TMJ, that tends to completely slip out of its socket, I have a right maxillary cant. This means my upper jaw tilts downard on the right, giving me a lopsided appearance.
Has anyone had a similar issue with resolution. I'd love to hear about your experience and outcomes.
Anyone have a maxillary cant levelled out?

Hi peskywabbit! You could have not picked a better moment to post your question!
I 3 months post-op and while my upper jaw was completely level before surgery, I woke up with a 1-2mm cant. Apparently the right side of my upper jaw was impacted a little bit more than it was on the left.
I've been stressing about this lately and feared surgery would be the only option. I saw my ortho today however and he says while it is not ideal that this happened to me, with a little creativity, he believes he can fix this.
In the coming weeks/months, he will be using a combination of elastics, springs, TADs, and some "appliance" that I will have to wear on the roof of my mouth. He says once all this is installed in my mouth, the movements will happen fairly quickly. But it sure sounds like a lot of work. I am very confident in his abilities though.
So, I hope that helps. Yes, it can be done with orthodontics alone. I will continue to post my progress to this particular thread for reference. I am now in a new rubberband configuration and I get fitted for my appliance and TADs at my next visit in 3 weeks.
