Metal Mouth Message Board

Hi everyone! I'm new here as of today so I hope I'm doing this right... has anyone here had jaw surgery by or heard of Dr. Raffi Margossian in Burbank? He is who my insurance (Blue Shield HMO) picked to do my VERY extensive double jaw surgery slated for about 3 months from now. On Tuesday he installed a metal plate with screws into the roof of my mouth across the center ridge, and then anchors at the gum line above each molar, that apparently will get my severe open bite a bit closer together to prepare me for the ultimate jaw reconstruction. I'm in A LOT of pain 2 days later, and still only able to eat soft foods. I'm pretty miserable so any good advice is greatly appreciated!

Lyddy is my wife and is starting to get a little stressed about her surgery. This last week she had "plates & screws" put in by Dr Margossian. Not saying that she is having second thoughts, but I'm a little surprised that she has waited this long to research doctors. She is the kind of person that researches to the fullest, but for some strange reason she is slow in asking about doctors. I'm glad she has Dr Margossian in her corner for sure.
