Hi I'm new here & really beginning to freak out. I am a 34 year old (I look 24 I'm told) female in need upper & lower jaw surgery. I have a severe underbite, a big open bite & a cross-bite. I have been in braces for almost 1.5 years and the jaw surgeon my insurance picked out just finished installing a TAD in the roof of my mouth. I'm not confident in this surgeon though, and I'm scared! Insurance is already approved but I want to consult with at least a couple other good surgeons. Can anyone throw out some names, please? I know of Arnett/Gunson, I just can't afford them & I've heard they don't accept insurance at all. Is this true? What about docs at UCLA/USC? If anyone can help me out, tell me who they went to in the area, even if it was out of pocket, I'd really appreciate it! Thank you :)

hi, i had my surgery with Dr. Robert Relle which I am sure you may have heard of but he's been talked about in a good way of course and the work that he does are excellent. I had my surgery done through Kaiser with Dr. Relle but he also has a private practice in LA. Here's the website to his practice: http://www.centuryoms.com/
he's regarded as one of the best surgeons in the LA area for jaw surgery and he's a great doctor. check him out and hopefully this will help you find a surgeon in the LA area. I am currently 5 weeks post-op, I had a Le Fort I, BSSO with genioplasty advancement to correct several issues and am doing well although there's still swelling along with numbness and soreness but other than that, i love my new look especially my profile. I can't wait for everything to settle in and for the swelling and soreness to subside and my numbness to go away. I gotta tell ya, this jaw journey is hard and it's not easy, there'll be days you'll feel like crap and ask yourself what did you do to yourself but have realistic expectations that it's ok to feel horrible and miserable during this time but as time goes on, things will get better and the pain will gradually go away. This surgery is very worth it though and I wish you lots of luck with yours! Feel free to ask any questions!

Thanks for the rec. I'm still looking around for good sliding genioplasty docs in the LA area myself.
