Aetna vs CIGNA vs United vs BCBS

#1 Post by Marisama »

Any thoughts on the above insurance companies? Open enrollment is coming up and I may switch.

Thanks,

United Healthcare covered everything for me, including two days in the hospital, but only after an initial pre-surgery denial, appeal and peer-to-peer. Just a point of reference.

I have BCBS in Texas and it covered mine. The original submission was denied, but our policy states that Jaw reconstructive surgery is covered only after appliance therapy didn't work.

When we first submitted I had only been in braces for a week, now that I have been in for over a year, we resubmitted brand new records and photos and it was approved in less than 24 hours.

I would just encourage you to study the explanation of benefits for all policies and make sure to watch for exclusions due to it being cosmetic.

Good luck!

Cigna covered it all for me. It really does depend on the policy. Hopefully you can review the inclusions and exclusions before you have to commit for next year. Good luck.
