Who here has gone thru upper plate removal

Can you describe how your doctor removed your plate/screw and wires in your upper jaw ?
As when I told my mom they went thru my lip and she goes no they didn't go thru your lip they only went thru your gum so I go Mom no idea why they went thru my lip then they went to my gum no idea why they went thru my lip as my plate wasn't in my lip it is in my gum and was already exposed so I keep on wondering why didnt they go thru my gums only like they did on my lower jaw when wire was emerging out of my gums ? So how did they do it for you ?
I have two rows of stiches in my lip along with 1 row of stitches along my gum line. Plus I have a big mouth ulcer on my upper lip which makes it hard to eat .
