According to most of the resources I find online, a few mms interlabial gap or maxillary incisor display is normal. Yet virtually every single person i come in contact with has no gap at all. As in their lips are 100% closed. Is there a reason for this? Are my eyes deceiving me?

Yeah the norm is 0mm but a lot of people have 2-3mm but that's generally the upper limit. And when you have a gap that small without strain, you probably have your lips closed most of the time without thinking about it.

Yup a few mm is fine and you can get away with closing your mouth without any mentalis strain or dimpling in your chin, and your jaws in their natural position will remain closed.... If it gets much larger than that, you get natural open mouth and when forced shut dimpling and muscle strain in the chin !
