hi friends, I have been searching for answers. I still have 15-21 months left in braces, which will fix my bite,, but my receding chin is not part of treatment.
So Basically the title is what I'm curious about.
Sliding Genioplasty while still in braces?

Re: Sliding Genioplasty while still in braces?
It shouldn't be a problem since it won't have any affect on your teeth.
Re: Sliding Genioplasty while still in braces?
that's what I like to hear, who would not want an awesome manly chin soon rather then later!

Re: Sliding Genioplasty while still in braces?
They can do it at the same time as jaw surgery, assuming that's what you're having done. It is much less complicated, and doesn't lengthen your recovery time (and you only have to go through anesthesia once.)
OTOH, you will probably have some nerve damage with a sliding genio, so you have to weight the result. I would do it if you have a severely recessive chin, but wouldn't do it just to fine-tune, because some nerve damage is permanent.

I think he just wants braces and a genio, no bimax. I agree about the numbness, it seems almost everyone who has a genioplasty in isolation or with double jaw surgery has partial numbness in the chin and/or lip area. I did. They warn people about it happening but it seems to be very common, to the point that you should just expect it.Bullfighter wrote:They can do it at the same time as jaw surgery, assuming that's what you're having done.
