I keep having really vivid dreams about this procedure--not bad, not good, just intense and richly detailed (with weird dream like stuff--as in, uh, don't think this surgery is gonna require stirups, correct?)

I don't know what to do with myself. Excited to get it done and hopeful, not afraid, not yet overly anxious . . . looking least forward to the immediate post-op period which sound awful. My surgeon says most people would describe it as "uncomfortable" more so than "painful."

I'm just obsessed with thinking about this I guess. It's finally going to happen. In one week.

First off, congrats on your upcoming surgery! It's such a long and difficult process for most of us. I think it's normal to "obsess" at times with such a major surgery, you are so close to your date. I even had strange dreams before getting my braces on, lol. I have surgery coming up too, but not until the 1st week of December, bimaxillary osteotomy and genioplasty. My ortho told me it was no worse than wisdom teeth removal, according to his clients. However, I truly believe it's different for everyone & what your perception to pain is. I also think he's trying to make me feel better about it

Sleep, health, after care, pre-surgical care, whether you have help at home during recovery, and if there were any minor complications during/after surgery can impact one's opinion of how difficult or easy their particular recovery was. I've found that running, reading, yoga, netflix, and a few online games to be a great distraction from thinking about it. I wish you well next week, if you ever want to talk more I'll be around.
