MINIMAL MOVEMENT! WILL I LOOK ANY DIFFERENT???

ANYONE have surgery with MINIMAL movement? And do I have an option to ask my surgeon to shave other things down??? I have a class III underbite...and with invisalign it helped my teeth move and they are basically on top of each other now...top and bottom touch with a slight underbite. I HATE MY CHIN..JAW..i feel like its long. My Dr decided doing a lefort 1 would be better for me and help fill out my upper jaw area but we are only moving it about 3-4mm. I am driving myself crazy wondering if all of this is going to even change my profile at all! We all know its for "health" reasons but lets be honest we want to also look good. Can I ask my dr to shave some chin off? He's a Kaiser surgeon...and ive read around that people ask their dr's to add or take away to their face for obviously cosmetic reasons...I didn't know that was an option? Is it? He hasn't asked me how I feel about my face or what im looking for. He hasn't addressed my long chin or anything!!! I haven't seen a digital photo of what I could look like (he told me he does have that software but at my preop yesterday didn't even bring it up) Is 3mm REALLY going to help anything? My surgery is scheduled in 3 weeks...i'm feeling a little crazy and nervous.

If @bloomingcactus657 or @smilesmakemehappy ever check this forum anymore I would love to hear how you guys are! you are two people ive found that also had minimal lefort movement! I know its been a few years since your surgeries!

Ask for a computer rendering. I didn't and regretted it. I had 4mm taken from my maxilla and (crossing fingers this will eventually right itself) at almost 9 months my face has changed quite a bit, and not for the better. Make sure you are comfortable with the risk of your nose widening or changing shape, and don't be afraid to shop around for doctors if you feel this one is not being forthcoming with information about how this will affect your appearance.

My LeFort I involved minimal movement. I don't feel I looked much different except for the midline shift (expected given the movements that were done), and the external base of my septum (the thing between my nostrils) is a hair crooked. (But nobody can see that unless they are looking up my nose.)

If the LeFort I brings your upper forward, it may balance out your chin with no genio being necessary. Insurance certainly isn't going to pay for a genio if that's the only thing being done to your lower. That said, maybe Kaiser will let the surgeon do it as a non-covered add-on while you are already under the knife.

Alternatively, you could get your LeFort done and after you see how it turns out get a plastic surgeon (that's done a bunch of them) to do the genio if your chin still needs work.

Thanks guys. I'm putting a lot of stress on myself thinking about all oft his! Surgery is 3 days away. And I want to look different but alps not too different. My surgeon just let me know yesterday he is going to lipo my chin area! And I don't necessarily have a double chin nor am I very overweight but he said just under my chin the skin is kind of saggy and not as tight. So hey I'm fine with that I it helps my chin!!!!! It's crazy you both feel so opposite of your minimal movement. Sirwired does anyone else say they notice a difference on you? Hidakat...did they do the stitch in the nose to stop it from getting wider.

They didn't during the surgery because they said my alar base hadn't changed. Then when my nose was still considerably wider at 7 months they did it as a separate procedure, but in the end couldn't return my nose to its pre surgery width. After speaking with some colleagues he told me this was likely due to my muscles having been stretched out and that if I want my old nose I will need to seek rhinoplasty.

No, nobody has said they really notice any change in my overall look. But on a functional basis, the surgery was a total success; my bite is now perfect (and I can breathe better, even though that wasn't one of the goals.)
