Hello everyone!
I was just interested to hear who has had their orthognathic surgery without a hospital stay? If so who was your surgeon? Anybody have this surgery done in Nevada? I am doing research for my own orthognathic surgery and I am still looking for a surgeon! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
I had my surgery done in my surgeon's surgical suite, no hospital stay. My surgeon is Dr. Johnson with Nevada Oral and Faciak Surgery: they are awesome.

Hey! Thanks for writing me!
I actually went to a consult with them and I saw Dr. Holtzen. They had trouble with my insurance, which I later dropped due to other reasons. But anyways the girl at the office who is also the surgical assistant told me $20,000, which doesn't include the anesthesia or hospital stay, not sure if her quote was correct cause she didn't directly ask the doctor, I think she looked in a book or on the computer. I didn't get a chance to speak to the surgeon about doing it as an outpatient, either. Maybe I should call and ask. Also, Thinking about switching to Dr. Johnson instead, I assume his surgical assistant is someone different. Hmmm...still not sure what to do!

I would call and ask if it can be done as an outpatient. All I can say is I love Dr. Johnson: great bedside manner, and an excellent, kind surgeon. I'm so glad I chose him.

Thanks for your help and the info. I've been waiting nearly 8 years to have this surgery done! And it's good to hear about and from someone else who had the surgery with them!

This is just a personal opinion and experience --
When I had my surgery, you could leave the day of, if things went well - but you paid to stay over night regardless; meaning of course, that it did not cost any more to stay over night.
I did stay the night, so my husband wouldn't have to worry about me, and I was so glad I did! Maybe just because they had an IV that dripped morphine into my veins, but I enjoyed the stay immensely! I think it is lovely to be on really high quality pain killers, and to be able to push a button and get a new ice pack... everything I wanted was just a button push away. Beautiful.
