I'm such an idiot!

#1 Post by gruntled »

Hi all,

I'm supposed to have surgery on the 17th June to correct my Class 3 Malocclusion. I'm in the UK and will be having the operation on the NHS. However I was supposed to have a pre-op assessment on the 22nd May, but as it was mid exam season, I totally and utterly forgot.

Does anyone have any idea what will happen now? I'm going to ring them first thing tomorrow morning but I'm terrified they're going to postpone or cancel my operation, as I have a graduate job lined up and can't really have the operation at any other time :(

I'm totally kicking myself and really really worried what might happen next :-+

My pre-op assessment was basically a sit down with a nurse and what to expect before and after the surgery. They wanted to make sure the paperwork was inline and needed the contact information of my escort to take me back home. Didn't seem like it was majorly time sensitive, it just needs to be done prior to surgery. However, NHS and your hospital might operate differently though...

I know on the letter for my pre-op appointment it said if I didn't attend without letting them know beforehand then they would cancel the operation. That might just be how my local NHS trust operates though, yours could have a different procedure. Best thing is to phone them tomorrow, explain what happened and see what they say.
