Delayed Unions

I'm three months after a segmental Lefort. My anterior portion (front four teeth) are apparently still loose, but the rest of the maxilla are solid. Still can't bite anything and the stabilizing wire is still in place. The possibility of a second surgery was mentioned, but nothing will be performed until October as that will be my six month mark. I'm looking to hear about anyone's experience on delayed unions. Did your delayed union eventually heal, just took longer? Were any alternatives performed? Surgery...I'm hoping it doesn't get to that point, are the chances of this pretty high? I appreciate any insights and experience on this.
