I have to go for a jaw surgery but my surgeon said I can choose to either have a single jaw or double. Both can be done. I'm not sure which to choose!
But more importantly I'm so afraid that people won't recognize me after the surgery. Like people will walk past me not knowing that's me! And then I'm afraid they'll say I went for plastic surgery as not everyone understands this situation! Any advice on how to cope??

Re: Double jaw surgery
Your surgeon didn't offer a recommendation on a treatment plan? Ask them what the difference would be in terms of results for your particular case. Everyone is different and every treatment plan is different. Your surgeon could give you much better advice on what you should have done than any of us could!
As to your second question, people I only know casually don't recognize me. I say "hi" and they say I look different somehow. I usually don't give them any hints about what's different and just move on with the conversation, no problem. Close friends I'm not sure whether or not they would have recognized me if I hadn't brought up the surgery with them beforehand. Some people will probably assume you got it done for cosmetic reasons, but I doubt anybody is going to jeer in your face about it. If you look good post-op, why would they bust your balls about it? I haven't had anyone give me anything but positive feedback, and I'm sure some of them must think I had it done for cosmetic reasons, given the significant improvement in terms of aesthetics.
Good luck!!!

Re: Double jaw surgery
How much you'll change cosmetically depends on the exact movements you'll have taking place. Your surgeon can tell you what movements are planned.
Re: Double jaw surgery
I had a double jaw surgery.
Some people didn't recognize me. Some people recognized me but we're a bit puzzled at first. And finally, some people never made any comment about the changes in my apperance.
Bottom line, if you need a double jaw surgery, go for it and screw what other people think!
