Hey everyone,

I've been browsing this forum for quite some time both before and after my surgery and the advice and support has been invaluable, so I thought I'd give something back. Below are my before and after photos for double jaw surgery to correct a severe underbite. My upper jaw was brought forward 5mm and also titled forwards and raised up (my surgeon described it as taking a wedge out from the back of the upper jaw bone), and my lower jaw was brought back 6mm.

I'm now 4 weeks post-op and although I may look pretty normal I still have a lot of swelling in my upper lip and cheeks. Numbness has now limited itself to the bottom right hand side of my lower lip and chin, and I still have another 2 weeks on a liquid diet to go, but I'm trying to stay positive and as a whole I'm happy with the improvements to my profile and bite.

Please feel free to ask any questions if you have any and I'll be happy to answer them. Btw my signature is completely true, I've been in braces for almost 9 years!! Crazy.

Congrats!! What a huge difference, you must be thrilled. I still see swelling, so keep taking photos every month to see even more progress.

Just want to say a quick thanks for all the kind words, really appreciated.

I'll be sure to follow ZiziOConnor's suggestion and post up some more photos once I've hit the 8 week mark, should give you guys who are about to go through double jaw surgery a rough idea on the swelling timeline.

Btw yesterday I thought I'd post some side by side before and after photos on reddit.com, as this was where I first saw someone else's before and afters and realised my problem could be fixed, so it was my way of 'passing on the baton' so to speak. Anyway it got waaaay more attention than I expected. As per the usual online etiquette I was pretty much 'roasted', so let this be a warning to anyone thinking of doing something similar

Wow! you look absolutely fantastic! thank you for sharing your positive results. I think it definitely helps me (and others like me) who are anxiously awaiting our surgeries and exploring and wondering every possible way we might end up looking.

i must say though, those reddit comments, on the hand jesus christ they're brutal. on the other hand, it was oddly comforting seeing that so many people have had the surgery!
