I have made myself sick over this possible upcoming surgery. Im saposed to have my pre admission appt tomorrow but just getting over being really sick. I feel like my iron is low or that I just physically am not ready. I just can't seem to bring myself to some type of resolve on this and now I don't know what to say to my ortho and surgeon. Does anyone know if this surgery will actually help my jaw pain and stiffness? I am used to it. I guess its from the overbite but how do I know doing this will fix it. I could end up in more pain and nerve issues. Im really really going crazy here. I am scheduled for this Thursday. Don't know what to do but my body is telling me NO don't do it.

There's nothing at all unusual or wrong about being anxious before surgery. Your surgeon should, upon asking, write a short-term Rx for a mild tranquilizer and/or sleeping pills. That's what they exist for, and there's no shame in taking them.
As far as "Will my surgery fix X"? That's a question for your surgeon and/or ortho. But off-hand, I'd say that's the sort of things surgery is usually intended to fix; otherwise what would be the point?

CandyApple, we ALL felt like we were losing it in the days leading up to the surgery. That's completely normal, unfortunately
I second sirwired's recommendations.

Hi CandyApple,
I just had my surgery last Wednesday and I felt just like you before hand. I posted on here about some additional complications which made my decision even harder, my stomach was in knots. I was reassured by my surgeon and orthodontist and knew of all the potential risks but at the end of the day the decision is yours. Almost everyone will feel sick and anxious in the lead up to surgery, that is normal! I felt sick the days prior tbh on the actual day I was ok and it's over before you know it's happening, thanks to GA.
I had an 11mm overjet and had my lower jaw moved forwards with both my lower wisdom teeth removed. Everything has been straight forward even with the complications of my bone density, it's also looking like I will regain full feeling back as I can feel the lightest of touch in numb areas. I also suffer jaw pain, stiffness, clicky jaw etc if the pain subsides then great and if not then least I tried and will be putting up with it, with a nicer smile
If you want to ask me anything feel free, it's all pretty fresh at the moment day 6 post op.

kazorina that is fantastic! Im glad you are doing well and already have your feeling. I decided not to do the surgery. I really think it could have had something to do with bad timing but whatever the case I will just have to live with my overbite. If I did not have the previous injury to my nerve a year ago I probably would have gone through with it, but I could not get past the risks. ugh

Going to go through with the surgery? Well, I guess you've already seen what the anxiety is like leading up to it. Good luck and keep us posted as it rolls around!

I'm 29 years old, had the surgery 6/8/16... I whined and cried all through the hospital... Once they put something in my IV to calm me down (where it makes you giggle uncontrollably for about 30 seconds)... I had zero cares in the world after that!
Just make it that far and you'll be golden!
