Correct tongue position?

#1 Post by Luciangreuceanu »

Hello,

I have read that the correct tongue position is very important in preventing a relapse.
Do you know, keeping the tongue on top of your mouth should be done independent of malocclusion type you have? (class 2 or 3)

Thanks.

I don't see why it would matter.

Your cheeks and lips lightly press your upper arch inwards. Without your tongue on the roof of your mouth, the arch becomes more narrow.

The tongue pushes the arch outward, counteracting the inward-pushing forces.

Upper jaw expanded and moved up and forward 2 mm. Mandible moved forward 6 mm.

Tongue position is something I've been very conscious of recently. I'm 9 months post-op and I guess I have nothing better to do  Anyways, someone on here said you should hold your tongue in the position it's in when you're finishing making the "en" sound, so that's what I've been doing. It's taking a lot of getting used to if it's not already natural for you.

According to this article on the "Tropic Premise," tongue position is very important indeed as far as beauty goes:

Thank you for your quick answers.
I have put myself a repeated reminder to put my tongue on the roof of my mouth.

All the best.
