Starting to get a little bit terrified of my upper jaw surgery and genioplasty...could use some tales of your experience

#1 Post by Crimsonchin95 »

Just like the title says...my surgery is coming up on the 27th of this month and I've been having sleepless nights and anxiety.

I'm getting double jaw surgery and genioplasty....I'm worried sick ! I'm also very grateful to be getting this surgery, because my father gave me 22k (!) So I can pay up front (the surgeon offices policy...fk)...

I just want to hear some people's experiences with this, especially about the genioplasty.

My suggestion to you would be to read through the "surgery buddies" threads and see people's experiences there.

You may also want to read some blogs about jaw surgery. There are lots if you google it.

Depending on what you specifically want to know, I might be able to offer some experiences as well. But there is lots already on this board to read through. :)

I know there's a lot to read through, and I have definitely been! I guess I'm just looking for some current support lol. Thanks

FYI, recovery will go a lot better if you aren't a nervous wreck running on no sleep leading up to your surgery date. There's no shame in requesting an Rx for tranquilizers or Rx sleeping pills for the few days before your surgery; short-term issues like this are exactly what such meds are best at. Do yourself a favor and call your OMFS and ask.
