Lower jaw sliding back

#1 Post by Naderq »

I had upper and lower jaw surgery 3 weeks ago. Everything is going great except recently I can start to feel my lower jaw sliding back and creating a bit of an overbite again. It's not significant yet but it's definitely annoying me and mildly starting to affect where my chin is.

What can the OS do to reverse/prevent this??

First question for me would be; was it just swelling that's going down giving the impression that the lower is sliding back or is it truly moving back; joints healing, discs going back into place.... Your surgeon should be able to answer that question. How they answer that question; determines the next course of action. If you're concerned, talk to your surgeon. Could be nothing and can be "fixed" with orthodontics or things might not be healing right.
Round 3 (lifetime) Damon stainless applied 3/16/20 (after 4 weeks attempting invisalign) On for about 18 months
Night time elastics with invisalign retainers; still...
Double jaw surgery was 6/18/15...
Orthodontics never really ends...
I'm emphatically against extraction orthodontics!
