Still have an overjetafter BSSO?

Hey Everyone. I had a BSSO to move my mandible forward exactly 10 days ago. As the swelling went down I started noticing that I still have a good 3-3.5mm of overjet. My overbite did improve some. The surgeon did not wire shut me, just told me to wear a rubber band on each side. I used to have 6 mm overjet initially which makes me feel it wasn't worth it to go through this whole process. Has anyone that had mandibular advancement done experienced this? Do you guys think its something that will eventually be adjusted with braces? My teeth are pretty much straightened to I can't picture how they would do that. I've been very concerned about it but in the middle of the holidays I'll have to wait till the first week of January to see my surgeon and ask. Any comments about similar experiences would be greatly appreciated to have some piece of mind. Thanks for your input!

Hi, Ive seen some pretty neat posts on this forum with people having corrections done with just braces. I think it would be possible to correct your issue with just braces. If its something your surgeon and ortho agreed on. I would defintiely bring up your concerns at your next appt. good luck to you and hope everything comes out well!
