Hello! I'm 21 years old and planning on getting jaw surgery done as soon as possible for severe jaw asymmetry and an open bite. My orthodontist said he can refer me to whoever I want from Toronto, and I'm either gonna go with Dr Marco Caminiti or Dr Claudio Tocchio. I've heard that they are the best in Toronto, and perhaps two of the most experienced in Canada. My orthodontist usually uses Dr Tocchio, and said that he hasn't heard of Dr Caminiti before, so that made me a bit uneasy about going with the latter. But looking at online reviews (like on ratemds), Dr Tocchio has quite a few negative reviews (not just a bit negative, they are quite bad); whereas Dr Caminiti has only positive reviews. Does anyone know anything or have any experience with either of these doctors? I need to decide soon so any help would be appreciated!

Here: I found two online reviews for Dr. Caminiti. One positive and one negative.

Hopefully I don't get in trouble for posting links to a competing website.

Thanks. I am think I am gonna go with Dr Tocchio, as he seems more experienced and well-known. But if I find I don't like him after the consultation, I can always go with Dr Caminiti.

I know there is a girl on youtube named "Tierra Incognito" who had surgery with Dr. C and documented her recovery. I love her aesthetic results and it appears she escaped with only a little nerve damage which doesn't affect her quality of life. I would get a consult with Dr. C regardless. I had my surgery in London, Ontario with another surgeon who in my opinion left me way worse than I started. My biggest regret is only getting one surgical consult as there are many competent surgeons in Southwestern Ontario.

I concur. Get more than one consult. Check out the hospital where they perform too and make sure they have good ratings.
I went with one consult and should have done two and done a little further homework. The hospital (NYC) was the worse; bad ratings from CMS too as it turns out. I felt unsafe especially when you wake up to the nursing staff googling anatomy over you??!! Also; they didn't have some of these nice post procedure ice collars / coolers for your jaw as I see posted. They gave me a rubber glove filled with ice and covered with a washcloth. Take a look at this website where they have the ice cooler "system". I would totally have spent the money if I had known I was going to only get a rubber glove!! They melt really quick and you really need it.

There's someone on one of the online communities that got overimpacted with Dr. T. Avrilinvan, I believe.
