Slightly discoloured tooth (possibly from my jawsurgery?)

#1 Post by lemonweeps »

I had my jaw surgery around April 2016. 1 of my front tooth is slightly discoloured from the rest of the teeth, it is a little grey (dead-ish looking). I've consulted my orthodontist and he said it just looks dead but isn't, according to my x-rays. My dentist told me that it isn't dead either, just that maybe one of the the many nerves might be affected, hence causing it to discolour and stain.

Despite their reassurance, I am still afraid that one day the tooth might die? Plus it is one of my front teeth. It isn't sensitive, doesn't hurt or anything. I am just worried about it. Has anyone had similar experiences?

One of my front teeth also got discolored, but it was dead and had a previous root canal. Did they test it with the liquid nitrogen to confirm it was still alive?
