Hello ,
I am 5 weeks post lower jaw surgery for underbite.
I had 1 lower jaw bracket broken during surgery .
And that tooth has moven into the wrong place . It is now in front of the other teeth.
Has anyone had bracket broken ?
And my surgeon told me to wait untill 2 months to go back to my orthodentist .
Now after he removed the wires .
My teeth are misaligned, my upper teeth just land over my lower teeth ( edge to edge) .
Can braces fix that and will i get the perfect bite after braces ?
Thank you
Did anyone had brackets broken during surgery? And did any had teeth misaligned during recovery?

Hey,
I am 7 months post double jaw surgery. I did not have any brackets break. But when I wokeup from surgery or the day after, i felt my tounge around my banded shut teeth and felt my open/underbite was fixed up front, but I noticed my bite in the back left and right felt wayyyy off. Teeth were sitting on the opposite tooths edge it felt like. I have natural anxiety so of course i had a panic attack that lasted a week or so until i seen my surgeon and he said thats how it was supposed to go, and the ortho adjustments will fix it. A few months later, its amazing what the orthos have done. With each adjustment you can see/feel your teeth straightening to almost the perfect point. Im at month 7 and I have seen so much changes from day 0 to now. Its almost too much changes too comprehend. But this was just me. Maybe not all orthos are as good? Idk.
As for you, I suggest you let your surgeon and orthos know about the situation, and do whatever they say. Im sure if it is urgent they will let you know to come in sooner then later. But after all the changes Ive seen my orthos do, your situation sounds like something they can fix with braces/wire/elastic adjustments. I literally have had gaps disappear 2 days after adjustments.
I wish you the best and a full recovery in no time.

Thank you for your response .
My surgeon said it's okay . It will be fixed by the orthodontist.
I will call my orthdentist tomorrow to tell him the situation.
I just want all this to be over and have the perfect bite.
Because front teeth are not like back teeth .
They are the first you see when you smile
I know I am a very anxious person .
Thank you again
