How’d you deal mentally during the period before jaw surgery?

I have depression so I already suffer from low self esteem which is the main reason I wanted to get this surgery. My bite wasn’t noticeable at all, but now it is and I know it’s just going to keep getting worst. I’m 8 months in technically 6 in orthodontic time, and I have 7 more months to go before I can get surgery (they said a year but honestly I’m scared it won’t happen somehow or I’ll have to wait longer). How’d you deal with your bite getting worst and low self esteem before you got surgery?

My friendly advice (from one imperfect person to another) is to deal with low self-esteem sooner rather than later. Perhaps start with a self-help book and if you don't feel as though you're making adequate progress, engage the services of a
good therapist. Just know that you're not alone with a low self-esteem condition and it's something from which you will recover.
Wishing you the best with the upcoming surgical procedure!

Highly recommend going to a psychiatrist and therapist regularly. Going through surgery is rough. You want your mental health in the best shape possible. If you haven't tried anti-depressants before, I'd spend some time now finding ones that work for you so that you are in peak mental health while your body heals.
My main mental health issue is anxiety, and having something to treat that during my first week after surgery was the best thing for my recovery process. Otherwise, I'm sure I'd have had panic attacks.
