Double Jaw surgery February Body

#1 Post by Konbawa076 »

Hi Everyone,

I had SARPE in november 2017. In February 2019, I had to undergo double jaw surgery (Lefort I + BSSO) to fix my open bite and Genioplasty (long chin apparently) and Zygoma augmentation (they said my face was too flat and was going to be even flater after they push forward my upper jaw).

I'm now 10 days post op and to be honnest I feel like sh*t and so so ugly.

My nose has goten so big and doesn't seem to swell down and the shape of my face OMG : between the zygoma augmentation and the genioplasty seem like a square.

I had full lips, they now are slimmer :(

I know I'm only a week and a half post op but the swelling did reduce a lot the first week and know it's so slow I'm scared I'm going to be stuck with this horrible face. I don't look human even less a woman :(

It's so hard to talk about this. There is no way people understand unless they went trough the same experience.

Anyway, is there someone somewhere who can relate?

Swelling could be present for up to a year so it’s impossible to judge the result at all after only ten days.

It seems a bit strange that THEY told you that your face is too flat. Too flat for what? If you liked it then what’s the problem? Anyway.. moving the upper jaw forward will NOT make the face flatter. Think about it, how could moving your middle face forward/outward make the face flatter? Moving the upper jaw forward makes the face LESS flat. It will not agument the zygoma region but when a face looks flat thats usually because the middle face region is too far back.

Full disclosure I was having a freak out moment.

The swelling has gone down I’m now 13 days post op.

I suppose it’s just hard not to see yourself in the mirror for such a long period of time. And even though the swelling does go down i’m afraid that some part of the rest of the swelling is just how my face is going to look like.

As for the flatness of my face, I always had a very flat face, I jokingly always called myself the “plate”. And the surgeon suggested that since my face was indeed with not much volume. He suggested to proceed to a zygoma augmentation because it’s the same cut as the ostéotomy already scheduled. The reason why is that pushing forward the upper jaw may create a hollow. But a picture speaks more than words. So here Is a link to better understand
