impressions tommarrow

#1 Post by MegD817 »

Hey everyone!! I'm new to the board and this is my first post. I'm 20 from NC, and I am going to get my invisalign impressions tomarrow and I am so excited!!! I had a couple of questions:
1. How long does it take for the aligners to come back?
2.I have a gap in between my front teeth, I was wondering if anyone had any pictures of what the trays will look like when I am just starting out(before anything closes).

Thanks!!

not sure about question 1 because i live in uk but for question 2 i can help the best place to look is here (http://smilingwideopen.blogspot.com/) she has a gap in her teeth and its looking good now, one last thing prepare to gag on the stuff which the ortho will take the impressions of your teeth i think it has to be in for 5 mins with the ortho pushing them against your teeth and then most likely out comes the dreaded camera and the nasty plastic things which go in your mouth forcing a :)

You posted this site: http://smilingwideopen.blogspot.com/
I looked at her pics. My uppers are nothing like hers, but my lowers are exactly like hers.
Some people asked me to post pics, because Im SOOO happy with Invisalign and I tried to take pics and they came out horrible.
So, for those who wonder... my lowers are just like this website.
My uppers are totally perfect and straight.

Thank you for your replies. I've taken a look at the website and I am feeling good about everything. My bottom teeth are pretty much straight except for minor spacing, however my gap is larger than hers. My ortho showed me a Clincheck (not sure of spelling) of a patient of his with an almost identical case to mine, and everything seemed to close up perfectly. I am just so excited, my teeth have always been such an insecurity for me.

The impressions weren't that bad I didn't gag, but I have a big mouth. I only had to take one bottom but THREE top! But it still wasn't that bad the worst part was the aftertaste of the stuff, but a good brush and everything is fine.

Meg ---

The aligners actually make your gap appear smaller when you are wearing them - it's just an optical illusion I suppose, but it's a bonus.

My uppers originally would have taken less time & aligners to correct than my lowers, but my doc decided wearing both for the same length of time overall would be best. I agree - having gotten so used to wearing both as a set, it would feel really strange to only be wearing the lowers for an extended length of time.

nvrsaynvr --- I'm SOOO happy with my Invisalign treatment so far too!

Hope everyone else's goes as well & tracks accordingly.
Thanks all for visiting my blog - I'll keep it updated and continue to report in occasionally even after my retainment phase is completed. There doesn't seem to be enough followup out there for us to compare to - yet.

Regards,
Anne :)

Ya - When I dont have my trays on, its like not having my kids with me.
If I dont have my trays on I feel NAKED!
Its going to be so weird when the doctor tells me not to wear them anymore.

I have had an extraction from my lower front teeth, now when the tray is in you cannot really see the gap but as soon as i take the tray out then the gap becomes very visible. Before i started this process i was worried about the trays being noticable, now i am more concious when the trays are out and cant wait to get the trays back. It means that i am wearing them for best part of 22 hours a day on average. Now half way through tray 2, still early days but nearly ready for tray 3 :)
