Dropped invisalign in toilet

#1 Post by prettybutterfly »

Today when I went to the bathroom to take my invisalign out to eat, I accidentally dropped it in the toilet. I felt pretty disgusted with the idea of putting it back into my mouth!!! I had used this aligner(no 3) for 8 days, and I figured I might as well just put in the next one(no 4) in stead. Since today is saturday there's no way I'd be able to get the hold of my ortho anyway to ask what to do. Did this ever happen to anyone else? Should I leave this aligner in for 1 week extra since I missed a week of the current one? Or is it no big deal at all so I can easily change it in 2 weeks? Should I call ortho on monday or is there no need to, since some people actually change every 10 days?

Replys very appreciated!

Just put it in mouth wash or w/e, then brush it with a tootbrush. Then all the bacteria will be gone, there's a reason why they say 2 weeks for aligners, your teeth and gums have to shift properly or its a waste.

By the way, the average toilet bowl is deemed to be cleaner than the average kitchen sink. Mouthwash and toothbrush should be just fine.

I think I will rather take my chances with the sink over a toilet
