warning about attachments

#1 Post by momof1 »

I tried switching to a new tray the other day and I could not get my lower aligner to fit over one attachment. I have seven on top and two on the bottom. I saw my ortho yesterday. He wanted me to wear it for a few days to see if my tooth will eventually move into place. He and his technician could not figure out what was wrong with the aligner. Well... Last night I tried wearing them for a few hours. My tooth with the attachment was not happy, and I decided to take them off.

This morning I went back to my ortho to have him look at the aligner again. While I was waiting for him, I was fiddling with the aligner and noticed the groove for the attachment in the aligner was uneven. I pointed this out to the technician. Guess what? It turns out there was a piece of fiberglass in the aligner and that's why it didn't fit. Apparently, Invisalign makes fiberglass models of your teeth at every stage and some of it came off and into my aligner. I wish my ortho had caught this instead my agonizing over it. His technician said, "But we didn't see it yesterday." I wasn't trying to be mean, but I jokingly said " I think he needs new glasses." I have a feeling that they think I am just overly sensitive, but I've got other health problems and I really didn't one more thing to worry about.

Just a word of warning.
