#1 Post by oneal34 »

and how much were your payments ?

my initial consult showed a $1500 down payment and $250 records fee

that took it to $3400 which was $254 a month for 12 months

please tell me other orthos dont require $1500 up front

Records fee? I didn't have anything like that.

My full fee is $5180 (17U/19L). I had to pay $750 down and another $750 will be covered by insurance. I am paying the remaining in 16 monthly payments of $230 from my Health Savings Account. When my balance in the HSA is high enough, I will also reimburse the $750 that I paid down.

I got to choose the number of months to stretch it out over and could do it up to 24 months. My treatment time was estimated at 15 months (including refinements). Total time for the first 19 aligners will be about 9 months.

$3400 sounds like a great deal to me. $1500 down doesn't sound unreasonable to me. Is there any negotiation room there? I think that most offices are willing to work with patients who may not be able to put the full amount down (maybe add another couple of payments at the end).

Mine is costing approx 6000/cdn. But i get about 1000 back from the benefits plan which is pretty low here in Ontario, but that is only because I am still under my fathers insurance plan, and his ortho plan sucks. But hey 1000 dollars is better then nothing:)

I had to pay 1800 in the first month, and then im on monthly plans for the rest.

In comparison to the metal braces which would have cost about 4500, Im so glad I got the invisalign. Especially since my estimated time of treatment with invisalign is about 10 months. Im done 5 and my uppers are done in a month and Look fabulous!!

I had a consultation and did impressions for invisalign last week. My quote was for $5800. This is in Souther California...maybe my ortho is overpriced???? I would like to hope not! I decided against the Invisalign and went with traditional braces...I read the difficulties of the invisalign patients on this forum and decided that braces would be a better fit for me. Not only that, but I saved $2000 off of that quote. I have been pretty happy with the braces. I wish I knew more about what exactly is supposed to be moving and where, though. = )

Invisalign costs

#5 Post by InvisibleTourist »

I got quoted GBP 5,000 (nearly USD 10,000) for Invisalign treatment with about 30 sets of aligners in the centre of London, UK. Since I have friends in Budapest, Hungary where medical costs are generally lower, I looked into treatment there. I am being treated by a really good orthodontist there who is charging EUR 4,700 (USD 6,300).

Since being treated in Budapest requires many weekend trips, it's not really any cheaper - but it's a lot more fun! Budapest is a crazy and beautiful city.

I am paying $5111 in Illinois....they required $1200 up front, but insurance is covering half of that, so I only had to pay $600 up front, then the rest of it is in monthly payments til treatment ends (22U/11L)

mine were about 3grand with an ortho at a dental school.

if anyone is looking for a less expensive route, the dental schools are usually about 1/2 the cost of standard orthos/dentists BUT you should probably check out the schools rep as well as the rep of the individual ortho/dentist before jumping in for any major dental issues. i'm a big fan of the ortho department at the dental school here in my town

dental school

Four years ago, I paid $2500 in payments myself, and my dental insurance paid $2500, so $5000 is very close to what you guys are paying now. I was all paid in 2 years, and my treatment is taking over 4 years (I'll be done in a few days) so I think I got a bargain.
Be careful about the dental school approach. If you get a student who needs to put on metal braces...you might get what he needs, not what you want.

My ortho is charging me a little over $5,600. I have to put down $2,315, then pay $280 for 12 months. My insurance doesn't cover sqwat. He estimated my treatment at 15 months, so I'm looking at around 30 trays, probably 60 in total :(

$6500 for:

1. Palatal Expander, then essex retainer
2. Ceramic Braces on top teeth, another essex retainer
3. 37 uppers/12 lower invisalign
4. retainers

I think my case ended up being more complicated than originally anticipated. By the time I'm finished, it will be three years!

My insurance paid for half the treatment cost. :D

My orthodontist charged me $5700. I paid $2000 upfront and the remaining balance I paid in 3 installments.

My original price was $5,800 and then my insurance covers $1,500 of my total treatment. In my price included is;
- Invisalign (20 Uppers/22 Lowers)
- Any refinements needed
- Retainers for life as needed
- Braces after invisalign if I choose to make any adjustments that the aligners didnt correct
- And regular check ups with my orthodontist for 3 years

We got a lot of options in paying our first was that we could pay in full with cash and get 10% off. (but i dont carry $4,300 in cash around so that was out of the question)
There were also some inhouse payment plans we could pick from but all had interest on them so that was a crappy deal.
And the one we picked was Unicorn Financial. My orthodontist goes through this company and you have to apply for the loan but it is an interst free loan and we pay $250 a month or something for like 18 or 24 months either way its a good deal.
The ortho tho did not require a down payment if you use the inhouse payment plans.
