I have TMJ and have been wearing a mouthpiece to correct my bite and now my backteeth do not touch and I have to get braces to move my teeth to this new position so I no longer have to wear the mouthpiece. However I absolutely do not want braces again I refuse, so I am considering either iBraces or Invisalign, but I REALLY REALLY want Invisalign.
I have had some people tell me it would work for me and others not. One very qualified ortho that I saw said that he thought it would work, he said Invisalign claims that it can fix open bites, he said basically that it might be harder to do but it could be done. He said worse case scenario that he might have to put a couple regular braces on afterwards, however I do not want this. I was wondering if even though it's harder to move the teeth in this way with Invisalign, if it can still be done? Even if it takes longer? Has anyone used Invisalign to fix their TMJ? How thick is the Invisalign, because I'm wondering if my mouthpiece will fit over it? If not I've also ordered an Aqualizer splint, which says it does not prohibit tooth movement. Has anyone used one of these? Anyways, I really want Invisalign and I'm just wanting some people's opinions who might have some experience with it. Thanks
Invisalign for TMJ?
