I should receive the aligners in a week to 10 days. I don't know yet how many I will have, although the ortho orignially said it would be 12 to 14 months. I have a condensed version of the clincheck, but I am not certain how to post that. I would do so if someone can tell me how! It is in a file that plays on Windows Media Player.
I have finally received my aligners. 19 upper, 26 lower, with 3 attachments upper (2 on one side, one on the other), 6 attachments on the lower (3 on each side) no attachments on the front teeth. The ortho placed the attachments with the first tray, so I don't return for 8 weeks. So far (2 hours!) it seems a little odd, but not a problem, with very mild pressure in a few places. I notice a slight lisp with L's and S's, but my husband didn't think it was too noticeable. From what I understand, that should improve in a few days. I will keep you posted!
Almost to the end of the first 2 weeks. My attachments were applied right from the start, so initially it was difficult to remove the aligners, even though the ortho included the little hook-type remover from Invisalign. After the first week, the aligners are now easier to remove. I would imagine that when I start the second set on Sunday evening, they will be difficult to remove again. A few teeth were sore for the first 3 or 4 days, then different ones were sore; however for the past 5 days I haven't had any soreness, so I guess the movements with the first tray are actually done. My speech is OK, but since I talk for a living, I find my mouth around the inside of my lips and against the gums gets dry, even though I try to drink more water. I still find myself rubbing my tongue against the inside edges. I hope I can stop doing this. Have others found that the aligners are less noticable after a month or so?
19 upper, 26 lower. Started with trays Feb. 18, 2008
Hey over50! Congrats for making it through your first week!
Unfortunately I am only on my third aligner, but I feel I can post a bit about this. For the first two weeks my tongue was so raw, from me feeling the aligners(especially the bottom inside) and I would wake up with my tongue feeling awful(orange juice killed!) but during my second week I noticed that my tongue no longer hurt and I never found myself touching the aligners with my tongue. Now over a month with them it feels as if the aligners aren't even there(of course, I am past my first week with this set, so I am not feeling any pain) so I am sure in a few days you'll find yourself thinking the same thing.
Hey, your upper teeth look a lot like mine! Mine turned in like that as well. That part moves rather quickly (I have a stubborn canine tooth that did not).
Welcome to invisalign - today I tried to eat chocolate cake with the trays in and realized after a meeting that I had cake in my tray :-/
(I don't usually do that, but it is a new tray with 6 attachments and is REALLY tough to take out. Plus the cake looked good)
