Rough buttons

#1 Post by Artsy »

I got my Invisaligns 4 days ago. I have 6 "buttons". All on them much larger than I expected - but, my main concern is this: Aren't the buttons suppose to be smooth and shiny? Like a tooth? Mine are rough! And when I have the aligners out, to eat for example, the rough buttons are scraping up the inside of my cheeks.

So basically, my mouth is irritated when the aligners are in and when they are out. Defeats the whole purpose of having them removable!

Don't worry, mine are sort of rough too and you do get used to them. Before I was so aware of the buttons when the aligners were out, my cheeks were so raw from where they would hit, and the same could be said for the aligners too(mostly it was my tongue that hurt though) but you will get used to them. I am only on my 5th and I definitely don't feel either anymore and haven't for awhile now. Hang in there, it gets better!

The inside of your mouth will get used to them and in about a month you probably won't notice. It's like forming callouses where they are rubbing, but you won't notice.
