Overbite

#1 Post by toddgee24 »

I have a pretty bad overbite, crowding on my lower teeth, uppers arent to bad but need to be straightened, i know i would need jaw surgery to set it correctly, can invisalign be used to straighten teeth and then have my jaw set later? heres a couple pics, not the greatest. I saw a general dentist today and he said he couldnt help me, i go to see an orthodontist in close to a month, hopefully i can get invisalign. Image Image

It is good that you are consulting an orthodontist. You may even want to consult with two orthos, as you may get different opinions. The orthodontist is going to have other options if Invisalign isn't for you, or might suggest trying the Invisalign and finishing with traditional braces, as many on this message board have done. Even if you have to go with traditional braces, it is worthwhile. The longer you put it off, the longer it will be before you have your teeth the way you want them to be. Good luck. :D

Hi, I think that in your case, invisalign would help. Jaw surgery isnt a problem. I need a jaw sugery and maybe some big surgery in my mouth I dont know what and Im getting invisalign. In your case, getting these teeths strait might not be very hard for invisalign. But one ortho. can say your not a good case and another ortho. can say your a good case.... I think its ok for you to have invisalign.

i went about a year ago to an ortho and he basically gave me the run around on invisalign, he said he could do it but it would cost more, didnt give me price, he wanted me to get ceramic braces, and he said that would cost $10 000 plus jaw surgery, i never talked to him agian, i found this place lloking for a price on invisalign, im really hoping i can get invisalign, i go next month, can they do invisalign on the top and braces on the bottom if my bottom teeth are to bad for invisalgn? im in the windsor ontario area, i will look up another ortho for a second opinion also

Yep, there have been people who have gotten real braces on one arch and invisalign on the other, so it's possible. If they say that your bottom is too bad for invisalign make sure you ask about the possibility of doing both when you go in for your consults because I don't know if that is something many orthos just suggest.

Good luck!
