Just wondering i know you have mentioned about rotating the canine but can you rotate the lateral incisor as both of mine are twisted?

Thanks

@ems

My guess is that they would be easier to rotate than the caninces since the roots of the lateral incisors are smaller.

One of my upper lateral incisors is rotating and trying to come forward between the adjacent teeth. But in the last couple months it's also getting pushed up into the gums also, so it's not all the way down in the aligner anymore. :( I don't have an attachment on it, but I suspect I will need on on my refinements. So I think any tooth can potentially be rotated, it just may take some attachments.

I believe the consensus is that the canines are the most stubborn teeth usually. I had a problem with both my canine on the right side and my lateral incisor on the left. Neither is perfect, but I have seen more improvement with the lateral incisor. There needs to be some more room made for the tooth to become aligned with the rest, but I think once that is addressed, it will finish up nicely.

Hello All! I got my refinement series yesterday. After my original treatment of 18U/14L, I have 17U/8L for my first refinements. I was comparing the first trays in my original series and the first tray in my refinement series, and my upper canine did look like it had moved at all. I really could tell absolutely no difference!! :( .

I have only 2 attachments for my refinement series- one on the upper and one on the lower. They are both on my canines on the right side. I will keep everyone posted on the progress of these annoying canines.

Weird. Did you get a copy of your clincheck movies to see how much they should move? I suspect that maybe they rotated a little but you can't tell on the aligners, but I'll take you word on it.

Is it weird to have almost as many refinement trays as the original series? I would hate to have to do 28 more aligners!

I think some dentists plan for a refinement series as a part of the treatment, so that necessary changes can be made. That is, the "refinement" should just be seen as the last part of an ordinary treatment...

My dentist figured I'd need refinements when we started, but I'd still like to think that I've gotten closer than 50% of the way to the final result with the first series. I'm having the impressions taken for refinements next week, so I'll find out the refinement plan in a month or so.

i also have to rotate a very "snaggly" incisor...is this going to be difficult? my dentist warned me that i will most likely need a refinement for this tooth.
