set 2 and...

#1 Post by coffeespoons »

THEY ARE TIGHT! holy.moly. i'm going to bed with them in, and i'm just hoping i can take them out tomorrow without too much effort. i feel a ton of pressure on my teeth.

my first set had become a piece of cake - i could actually take the aligners out one-handed. not so with this set, certainly not for the first few days. i'm also going to have to file down the bottom like i did the first set; otherwise the lower edge would scrape along the underside of my tongue and the last time, it hurt so badly after a day, i couldn't even talk.

wish me luck!

Try to keep them in for a long time when you put a new set in. I try for at least 12 hours. Also, don't have the previous set out for too long before you put the new set in. I find the first two days are the worst, then it's not too bad after that.

Good luck taking them out tomorrow morning.

Explain to me how and what you use to "scrape the sides." Everytime I file down the plastic, I get it sharper, not more dull. Is there a secret to this? I have used a metal file, an emery board and a glass file for nails.

i use a metal nail file to file down that lower edge that scrapes the underside of my tongue. it works really well and leaves no sharp edges. i file vertically instead of horizontally so that it's smooth and even. i don't file down any other edges because the aligners are pretty comfortable everywhere else.

I just switched to my 5th tray and for some reason so far the 2nd one was the absolute worst.

Call me a masochist but i really enjoy the tight feeling and the pain(if any) removing them the next day. I know and can feel them working. I always try and figure out which and how each tooth is getting pushed and pulled.

I dislike the last week in an aligner because you cant feel them doing anything.
