When did you out about refinements?

When did you out about refinements?

#1 Post by Kez »

Hello,
I'm on 12/13 upper and finished my lower. I have 4 weeks left and am wondering when the ortho tells you if you need refinements? I'm wearing my bottom one till I finish the top and they seem fine.
Would it normally be when you are totally finished they tell you or are they able to tell on your last few trays?
If anyone with refinements can shed some light that'd be great!

Ask them if they think you need them, or if you aren't happy with the results, demand it!

If i am not happy with the final result of my teeth i will demand some refinements. I made a point about this in my very first consultation.

You should get two refinements free with invisalign full.

I had 28U/L. The dentist said in the beginning I will probably need refinements because I had a difficult case. When I got to 21 or so at least one tooth was off a little and not fitting perfectly in the tray. And around 24-25 it was obvious that my bite would not be correct at the end of the last few trays. And at this time one of my upper lateral incisors started intruding, so I knew that would need to be fixed with refinements.

It was just a matter of if I wanted to continue until the last tray or stop and get the refinements a couple trays before the end. I opted to continue to the end since I liked the way my lower teeth were shaping up even though I knew my bite would still be off at the end. I figured I'd still be closer to the correct tooth positions even though a couple teeth were off.

Thanks for that - I don't think my ortho will have a problem doing the refinements I just feel that I'm nearly at the end but don't want to get my hopes up in case I need more.
I was really just wondering if she'd have said it already if she thought it was needed. The good thing is she thought I'd need elastics for the last two retainers on the top but the problem tooth has moved down itself so I didn't need them.
I suppose I'll just have to be patient and wait for the next 4 weeks.

When my ortho gave me my last 2 aligners he told me to be ready to decide at the next visit whether I was happy with the results or if I wanted to go further.
