Yup. I got my impressions done and my head x-ray...so they told me they would call me in as soon as they got my first set of aligners. I felt a little uncomfortable because during my impressions I never got to see my Ortho so I was just with the dental assistants..they didn't tell me how the whole process will go..etc. Will they show me the 3-D video of how my teeth will shift with the invisalign process? because I know some people have those.. but I just don't know when I can see that 3-D video. It would be comforting to see that. :)

Normally they make a clincheck appointment, but if not, just ask if you can see it the next time you're there. You should also be able to get the exact length of treatment from the clincheck, so you can ask for that too.

Hi Tammy, welcome aboard. The great thing about Invisalign is that you get to see the end result via clincheck. I was so estatic when I saw the results. I'm on 18 months which is 34 uppers and 24 lowers. I have extreme crowding at the bottom. I always wanted braces when I was younger but couldnt afford them. By your age I was able to afford it on my own, but hesitated. I learned to live with my imperfection. I was really self conscious. I decided to get braces this year for my 35th birthday. I'm glad I found invisalign in my area because it's not very popular in Canada. You're suppose to view the Clincheck and verbally approve it before the ortho goes ahead and orders the tray. I don't know, every seems to have a diff experience, but my ortho is simply amazing. She took all the time to explain everything and I see her every 3 trays for a follow up and to pick up 3 trays. She monitors my progress vs. the virtual clincheck model. My ortho also has in her office before and after pics of her clients and they look simply amazing. That's what sealed the deal for me. :o Good luck, let us know how you make out living with the trays. It's really not that bad. Time flies.

Hey There. It's really nice to hear positive feedback about something that I'm about to do...Makes me feel more relieved :P . So, basically my orthodontist didn't tell me that I would come in for a clincheck. They just told me that they would call me as soon as my trays come in...But this Monday im planning on calling them and askin them if I will have a clincheck. Thanks for your story..and I think you gave yourself a perfect bday gift =)..because we dont need to live with imperfection when something could be done about it..so thank God for invisalign.

I think you will be very happy moving forward, particularly if you in any way self-conscious about your teeth.

As a pre-teen, I had teeth that resembled a picket fence. I first wore braces as a teen-ager and my teeth have appeared straight ever since, even though a severe overbite has required retreatment since then. Before braces, I noticed people's reaction when I smiled. Since then, I have never been concerned about smiling.

People concerned about the appearance of their teeth can come off appearing shy or reserved in a social or business situation. There are surveys out that indicate people with straight teeth have better business opportunities than those who don't.

I also understand loosing sleep over deciding about moving forward with ortho treatment. I've just started my third at age 59 when my overbite progressed to the point of causing gum irritation. My dentist referred me to my kids' ortho, who told me I needed braces for 18 months to fix the problem. I politely thanked the ortho for his time while thinking "No way!" and left. Within two weeks I decided to go back in as the problem continued to get worse. Now that I've started treatment, I'm glad that I did. One benefit of all the ortho treatment and other dental care is I still have all of my teeth - except the wisdom teeth.

Good luck - I think you'll be glad you moved forward!!
