How many hours do you spend wearing Invisalign?

#1 Post by Babie »

Hi,

I'm new to the Invisalign. Actually, I started wearing them last Friday. My orthodontist ordered me to wear them at least 22 hours aday, but I find it hard to keep to that. For the past few days, I rushed through Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. So, is it just me or everyone wearing Invisalign have the same/similar problems?

Any advice when eating out? For example: Do I have to time myself to make sure that I wear the Invisalign Full time :?:

My ortho told me that 20 hours a day was adequate, and that I should switch to a new set every 280 hours (thus I could speed the treatment up a bit by wearing them 22 hours a day).

In general, I've been taking them out for 15 minutes in the morning for cleaning/brushing, then 30 minutes at work for breakfast, an hour for lunch, an hour for dinner, and 30 minutes for a late night snack.

My ortho said 20-22 hours. As much as you can. Don't bother timing yourself, just be sure as soon as your done eating to go brush or rinse and put them back in.

My ortho never gave me a certain amount of time to wear them and just said 24x7. I did notice that the first few days of a new set I would immediately put them back in (after brushing of course  ) cause otherwise I would experience a lot of pressure/discomfort. The longer I wore the set I would be a little more lax about putting them back so instead of running to brush my teeth immediately after breakfast I would finish the article I was reading first. Just wear them as much as you can and you'll be golden.

Good luck!!!
