Invisalign to correct minor crowding + spaces

#1 Post by Mike88 »

I had traditional metal braces for ~3.5 years and got a Hawley retainer on the top and a permanent retainer on the bottom as directed by my ortho. A year or so later, the ortho took off the permanent retainer and said I didn't have to wear the Hawley any more.

Over time, I developed minor spaces + teeth crowding on the bottom, which may also be a side effect of my teeth clenching/grinding problem at night.

Theoretically, I think Invisalign would work for me, but I also know I have very large, deep roots. Any thoughts on whether Invisalign would be an option or should I visit a local ortho to really be sure?

Mike88,

I suggest you see an ortho who works with Invisalign as well as traditional braces to assess what can be done and your options. If your corrections aren't too bad, Invisalign will probably work fine. I have a more complex case, and while its not going perfectly, I'm making good progress.

You also need to discuss with your ortho about how to keep teeth moving in the future. I'm on my third round in braces due in part to older techniques used on earlier treatments and also the lack of long term retention.

Good luck!

There is a good chance that invisalign would work for you. there may be less expensive alternatives (inman aligners, etc)
The doc should be able to give you your treatment options.
