Had a filling but it's too high

#1 Post by pompompadom »

I had to have a large filling, the ortho said he made a mould of the filling from the brace. Problem is it feels to high and catches on my teeth. It's starting to hurt if I eat on it. It feels okay when I have ny braces in though. My next appointment is in 8 weeks, should I go back or just wait?

Go back and have it looked it. Apart from the fact that your aligner may not fit properly, there's the issue of dental health. Fillings that are too high in in occlusion will put excess pressure on the tooth, causing a swelling in the ligament area of the tooth. This can cause extreme discomfort.

Getting this fixed is a matter of making sure that the occlusion fits together evenly. Your dentist may use a coloured marking paper to determine the biting pressure points, and grind down the appropriate spots.

Good luck!
